The Grenadian band M. O. S. S International is highlighted as the vehicle that advanced an indigenous part of Grenada’s culture. They essentially created a musical sub-genre that has had a major impact on the Caribbean’s musical landscape and on our cultural history. M.O.S.S’ 1991 smash hit JAMBALASEE RULE marked the first time in Grenada’s history that the indigenous goat-skin drums, conch shells and jab-chants of j’ouvert morning had made their way into a recording studio and unto a record.
